Yesterday I had leave to wander around Helouan. It is much better and cleaner place than Cairo. In fact it is very much like a country town. It reminds me very much of Mount Barker. I went to the Hotel les Bains, or the English Winter Hotel as it is called. We stayed there nearly all day, it was too hot to move outside. It was a treat to be in a decent English house again. There must be quite 500 men here now, they are piling in every day. I don’t know when we will ever get any letters, they have all gone on to the various units.
