A picture of the Nile

Today things were “just middling” we had to be vaccinated again, all whose vaccinations didn’t take, or were not done on the boat, had to be done this morning. After that we did about four miles of skirmishing through the heat, dust, and sand. I believe in future we have to do eight hours a day, with one day a week leave from 10a.m. till 10p.m.

I saw a beautiful sight Sunday evening. I was standing on one of the big bridges which cross the Nile, it was a big iron affair with four lovely bronze lions guarding it, two at each end, and the river as dead calm with a whitish shimmer on it. Right in the distance on either side, palm trees and houses were reflected.  In the middle a few boats with fishermen in them drifting idly down the stream. It was exactly like the pictures one sees of the Nile, and it was very beautiful.
